Golden Globes Cancelled!

As many had predicted, the Golden Globe awards have fallen foul of the ongoing writers strike. The 65th Golden Globe ceremony will now not happen in its usual starry, schmoozy, sycophantic way. Instead the 25 awards will be announced via press conference on January 13.
The Golden Globes had been hoping to make a deal with the WGA to allow the ceremony to go ahead, but the WGA refused and the Actors Guild instructed its members not to attend the event in support of their striking colleagues. A Golden Globes without any A-listers would have been a very dull event indeed. But the wider question is what this means for the Oscars. The Golden Globes is like a flea fart in a hurricane compared to the importance of the Oscars, but could we see the biggest event in the movie calendar not going ahead?
